Tuan Osman Affan informed that he would be holding a Presentation Skills course at SLUE UIA Gombak on 17th Oct 2008. He offered me to be his ‘observer’ for his program. The program starts at 8.00pm – 10.00pm. Wow! I have always dreamed of going to such a program. Oh what a gift! Learning directly from my own mentor about presentation skills (a skill which I feel a great need to master). Guilty conscience at first hindered me from asking my hubby to accompany me as he would need to drive me through traffic jam directly after returning home from work! To go on my own and come back alone at night is just unthinkable… I just need to ask him. Well, there’s nothing to lose….so ask him I did. To my joyful surprise, he said he’d love to join! Wow! For all that you really want…do not be overcome by doubts. Just ask! (as in The Secret-Ask, Believe, Receive)

We both enjoyed the program, wholeheartedly feeling that we have indeed learned a lot. The two hours spent there seemed like minutes. The time flew so fast! Thank you Tuan Osman :)

Lesson Learned:

Technique of delivering the content through 6W’s (What, Who, When, Where, Why & How). Through this technique, Tuan Osman Affan demonstrates how a boring topic such as mineral water could be made interesting to deliver to the audience.

Have you read ‘Who Moved My Cheese?’ It’s an amazing book on how to deal with change that happens in your daily life. Have a peek through! It’s a simple and a great book to read.

I am a quiet person, but before this, I was even quieter! During my university days - in an attempt to make his students ask questions openly, my tutor promised  bonus marks for each question asked….I was the only one who stayed mum, till the end of semester! My two close friends Nor and Mimi tried all sort of ways to help me, but to no avail.

During my high school in Loughborough (UK), one classmate, out of extreme curiosity asked me - ‘Do you talk at home?’

That would give anyone a clear picture of my former self. Fatimah Zahrah would not open her mouth. I was too afraid of what I might say, might embarrass me.

I quit my masters on January 2008. (I stayed on my master for 5 years!)

On February I decided to make a move in a new direction! I’m awakening to the passion that has stayed dormant inside me ever since I was in high school . I love self development!

Here are some experience that I have encountered that brings extreme happiness ever since I decided to move with the new cheese.

In March I attended a Presentation Skill Course conducted by Tuan Osman Affan . It really was a great experience and he has since become my personal mentor (and my hubby’s too!)

On my next venture into the world of blogging, Wang Cyber Gathering was my next move towards my new cheese. This was my precious opportunity to intermingle with my online mentors such as Dr Irfan Khairi, Mr Shuth dan Mr Gobala Krishnan ( just naming a few ), It was on this occasion too that I got introduced to friends on Internet Marketing and bloggers like Catzer, Nana, Waida (they are now my close buddies!) and of course kak G too! (read my blog yet?) and lots more .

During the Majlis Berbuka Puasa TAMRIN (Pertubuhan Perunding Latihan dan Motivasi Muslim Malaysia) that we were at a fortnight ago , we were both overwhelmed by the presence of the many big names in the Malaysian world of self improvement. Talk about having many would-be mentors all in one place! So many great and wonderful people . My husband and I , we had the time of our lives chatting to a few of them namely Dr Tengku Asmadi, Datuk Dr Hj Fadzillah Kamsah, Tuan Hj Fadzli Yusof, Tuan Amin Idris, Tuan Shamsuddin Kadir, Ustaz Hasrizal(we were so excited seeing you came! Ustaz, you were our ‘virtual’ mentor.  Your ideas, opinions & views very often inspire us both. Wouldn’t it be fine when the days comes, we could have you as our ‘real life’ mentor? :)  ) Pn Ainon (we really value the valuable tips that you so generously gave us! Jzkk Puan ) Kak Roszita (It was nice knowing you!) Kak Noraini and Kak Noor Laili(your sayings I’ll keep in my mind forever! hehe Jzkk J) and lots and lots more! To my mentor Tuan Osman Affan (we panicked on knowing that you could not come at the last minute! We are hardly known by any other guest! ) tq for your encouragement, you’re really a GREAT mentor!

These, among others are some of the experience and memories that have brought about meaningful changes into my life. Still fresh in my mind of how hard I tried to quell the butterflies inside my stomach, before every such event. Questions and doubts like who am I , what will I talk about continually and viciously plagued my very soul ! At the end of each event I whole heartedly felt that it’s been well worth it , and more ! Extreme happiness and the feeling that time flew too fast capped it all.

Cheers to hubby ‘cos being very supportive every time before accompanying me …;)

How was your Eidul-Fitr’? For me it was double happiness and celebration. Celebrating Eid surrounded with all family members and engagement of my younger brother.

The first day spent with my in-law’s family in Malacca was hilarious. Then it was off to Perlis (over 400km away) with my own family for the engagement ceremony. Both trips were refreshing and very memorable.

After a long and enjoyable journey now it’s my cars turn to be pampered. I need to take it to the service centre.

A cloud briefly covered my mind. These trips were usually boring ‘cos I just spent the waiting time observing people and reading papers (nowadays I don’t read paper anymore!) Now I mean to make a difference!

So a week after Eid, I ventured out early in the morning (was there by 7.50 a.m) yet I was placed 10th!

Thank God, I came well prepared..the first hour was fully hooked to an audio recording of my uncle’s talk on happiness ( an Eid present from my uncle which he couriered through my brother!) Problogger book was next on the menu. :) To complete the course, Honda served me with a teh tarik! I waited for my car with great joy!

Before I know it, ‘Fatimah Zahrah, your car is ready’ Wow! 3 hours waiting has seemingly flown by!

Now my hubby can relax, car servicing is now one of my passions. Why? ‘Cos that’s one of the many ways that I usually get inspired for my writing-minus ‘the tugs of war’ with my two little loves. :)

Tips: Do what you enjoy, or else enjoy what you do!

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a special occasion ‘cos it’s a time of togetherness (the heavy traffic on the road is a proof to that –where everybody takes the chances to balik kampung) To kids, it’s so special ‘cos they get to play fireworks, wear new clothes and best of all ang pows from their relatives! Let’s be kids again. Anticipate joy and happiness in any occasion.

Let any other day be an occasion for joy.

How about celebrating 365 days a year?

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my muslim friends and readers of this blog a “SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI & MAAF ZAHIR BATIN”

*balik kampung: return to hometown.

Have you heard of a vision board before? Well, if you’ve seen the movie ‘the secret’ you’re most probably familiar with that phrase. ( Everyday while driving, listening to audio book ‘the secret’ is a must to me!)

Vision board is a board where you put all your goals up, by placing pictures of something that you want to achieve or something that you want to attract.

I have started doing this since a year ago and guess what, things have started to change…

“ Imagination is everything. It is the preview of the coming attractions.”

Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Irfan Khairi, Malaysian Internet Millionaire once revealed how he manifested his bungalow by visualizing his dream house through his vision board. He collected all the pictures of bungalow houses and stuck them on the wall…..and look what he has manifested, a three storey bungalow!

Here are some of the things that I place on my vision board!

  • A Happy Family (happy & joyous family)
  • Home Sweet Home (A bungalow with spacious garden for my kids to roam & us spend our leisure time)
  • Studying in UK (It has been my dream since I came back from UK in 1989)
  • Exhilarating Vacations (Vacations at any place & anytime I want)
  • Spiritual Uplifting (Going to Mecca anytime I desire)
  • Financial Freedom (Money comes easily & frequently)
  • Prolific Writer (A prolific writer on self development)

InsyaAllah, this or something better now manifests for me, in totally satisfying & harmonious ways, for the highest good of all concerned. Ameen J

Thank You Allah.

Want to share your vision board with us? Let the universe know it!

TIPS: What should you put on your vision board? Simply put pictures of things that you want to achieve and make you happy!
